I’m a NYC born, Puerto Rican Bronx native and I moved to the Orlando area during my last couple of years in high school (Lake Mary High). It was then that I became known as Lizzette on the radio, before I actually became Lizzette on the radio!
I had a gift of winning prizes on the radio and could do so nearly everyday. It was like an addiction. I even won once in New York City while visiting my friends. This just after bragging to them how I get to do everything fun in Orlando for free! The looks on their face when they heard Wendy Williams talking to me about my prize was priceless. Winning prizes on the radio was how I hustled my way in the door. Picking up that very first prize, taking one step into the radio station’s lobby, it hit me and I knew this is what I wanted to do when I grew up. I just knew somehow I would work there one day. I am fortunate to say my whole radio career has been in the Orlando radio market.
I also have radio to thank for my marriage to my high school sweetheart. I won tickets to go to Disney World and I randomly invited a friend to go to the park with me because he had a car and I didn’t, and the tickets were going to expire the next day. I was desperate for them not to go to waste. Well, we went in to the park as friends but didn’t come out as friends. After a couple of years working my way up to an air shift, I began using his last name on air without his permission before we were actually married so I’m glad that worked out for me.
As parents we are now out numbered. We have 3 great girls, Melinda our oldest and our twins, preemie miracles Mia and Maya who are the drive behind the passion I have for the PSA work I do as the Public Service Director and host to Real Talk Central Florida which airs Sunday Mornings 6a-7am. I love to do volunteer work as much as possible and connect with the community. My family has been touched by special needs and we are heavily connected and in love with many local charities in Central Florida. When you hear me on air say Besitos to you, please know that I mean it with all my heart for all the love you have ever given me throughout the years!
