Breast Cancer Awareness Stats You Need To Know

By Jessica Reyes

Are you ready to walk for a cure? For the past 10 years or so my mother and I go pink and walk in hopes of someday finding a cure for cancer. My mother and other family members and friends have all been affected at some point or another with this horrible disease and that’s why I’m on a mission to do what I can to help. I hope you will be there too. Here are some ‘Need to Know’ facts about breast cancer to remember:

SOURCE- Breast Cancer Statistics

1. Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed among U.S. women (excluding skin cancers) with about 252,710 new cases expected to be diagnosed in 2017.

2. Breast cancer death rates dropped 39 percent between 1989 and 2015, averting 322,600 breast cancer deaths during those 26 years.

3. The steep declines in breast cancer death rates since 1989 have been attributed to both improvements in treatment and early detection by mammography.
