Have you noticed the increase of leading women in action movies?
Just this week I’ve seen trailers for Tarji Henson’s Proud Mary, and Charlize Theron’s Atomic Blonde, and I must also mention the amazing job Gal Gadot did in Wonder Woman.
For years women in action movies have been seen as sidekicks; they are often times soft and sweet victims in need of a big strong male hero to save them. It’s about time that women are seen as strong, powerful, kick-a** characters.
Check out the trailers for the movies I told you about below.
In the Proud Mary trailer, Tarji Henson gives me Pam Grier vibes. It looks like she a trained assassin or hitman who’s not afraid to use her gun.
Charlize Theron is basically the first female Bond in Atomic Blonde. She’s undercover M16 agent, who will do whatever it takes to find out the truth.
By now I know you’ve seen Wonder Woman. She’s one of the strongest superheros ever, she has a heart of gold, and did I mention that Gal Gadot filmed a chunk of this movie while pregnant?
Are you going to go support these women break barriers and faces on screen?
