Nike is taking a steps toward inclusion by releasing an athletic hijab for Muslim women.
The Pro Hijab will officially launch in the Spring of 2018.
According to the Daily Mail, Nike was inspired to create such a garment when Saudi Arabian runner, Sarah Attar competed in the 800m race in the 212 London Olympic games, and when Amna Al Haddad, an Emirati weightlifter, competed in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
In an official statement, Nike said:
‘The Nike Pro Hijab may have been more than a year in the making, but its impetus can be traced much further back, to an ongoing cultural shift that has seen more women than ever embracing sport.
