Comedian DL Hughley is on tour with The Comedy Get Down, stopping by Amway Center tomorrow, Saturday, February 18, 2017. The tour also features Cedric “The Entertainer,” George Lopez, Charlie Murphy and Eddie Griffin.
Hughley called into Chad & Jill in the Morning to talk about the tour, his previous shows including his self-titled sitcom and Dancing With The Stars, and his favorite comedians of all time, Robin Harris and Louie Anderson.
He also commented on the current political scene and new president, Donald J. Trump.
“I just woke up to the news [Thursday, February 16, 2017] that they’re reporting that the Trump campaign was in contact with Russia the entire time through the election process,” Hughley said, “and if that’s true, that’s treason. They hated the Kenyan so much that they chose the Kremlin, and you think white people would know they case. It’s an interesting time.”
He also chimed in on the recent decision by Marshalls to drop the Ivanka Trump line. “I remember I heard Trump talk about he was gonna build a wall and he was gonna do it for less. If you wanna do that wall for less just put Ivanka Trump’s name on it. It will immediately drop it,” he said, adding, “How do you get your stuff kicked out of Marshalls?”
“I’ve never seen a time in the country where it was like this,” Hughley emphasized. “If you say something good about the president, somebody’s gonna get mad, if you say something bad about the president, somebody’s gonna get mad.” Hughley went on to say, “It was funny because they were talking about boycotting deplorables, and then they want to kick out Muslims. We are afraid of virtually the wrong thing.”
