Sia Releases New Song ‘Chandelier’
By Shannon Carlin
At first listen, you might mistake Sia’s new song “Chandelier” for something by Rihanna. And you’re not too far off. Sia wrote RiRi’s 2012 track, “Diamonds,” and seems to have taken on a little bit of her Barbadian lilt.
But, once you get to the song’s chorus, and hear Sia pull off some vocal acrobatics as she proclaims, “I’m going to live like tomorrow doesn’t exist,” you’re not going to mistake this Aussie singer for any other pop star.
She has written for Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Celine Dion, Britney Spears and Eminem. Her collaboration with him even got her into a little hot water with the LGBT community, with the group taking issue with his homophobic slurs on his song “Rap God.” Sia, who identifies as bisexual, later donated proceeds from their song, “Beautiful Pain,” to benefit homeless LGBT youth at the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center.
