If Kanye West asks you to write him a film, you do it. Or you hem and haw over it before you just go and write the damn thing. At least that’s what Bret Easton Ellis did.
The American Psycho author told Vice that Kanye asked him to write a film because that’s something ‘Ye can just ask someone. “I didn’t want to at first,” Ellis admitted. “Then I listened to Yeezus.”
He explained that it was early summer 2013 and he was driving in his car listening to an advance copy of the album. “I thought, regardless of whether I’m right for this project, I want to work with whoever made this. So f*** it, I said yes,” Ellis explained. “And that’s how it happened. That was seven or eight months ago. We’ll see what happens.”
