This year would be nothing without Miley Cyrus! She made this year all about her the moment she hit the stage at the MTV VMA’s in August. Since then, people have not been able to stop talking about her and every move she makes. Overall she is the biggest star to break out in 2013, even though she already had a name for herself.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis had two of the biggest songs in music this year with “Thrift Shop” and “Can’t Hold Us.” They were also nominated for 7 GRAMMYs, which will be held on January 26th. 2013 was definitely their year and they were the most played artists on 101.9 too! Let’s see if they can bring it in 2014.

Lorde broke out this year with her hit multi-format hit “Royals.” She had one of the biggest selling singles of 2013 at only 16 years old. She’s received a lot of criticism for her comments about other artists in the industry but regardless she is still super talented and dominated in 2013.

Even though he hasn’t popped totally yet, 2013 has been a big year for Austin Mahone. I feel like things really started getting big for him when he performed on the red carpet at the VMA’s. Twitter blew up and he instantly got the comparisons of Justin Bieber, who he looks up to. Look for his star to continue to shine in 2014!

Speaking of Austin Mahone, I believe there was a rumor going around earlier this year that he was dating one of the girls of Fifth Harmony. Even though they didn’t win last season of the X Factor, they were the biggest stars to break-out from their season besides Emblem3. The girls have been all over the world the last year promoting their first single “Miss Movin’ On.” They also released an EP this year with their latest single, “Me and My Girls.” Look out for them in the new year and not just for their awesome style :)

Who do you think will make it big in 2014?
