Real Talk: S.W.A.T. (Students Working Against Tobacco)

S.W.A.T stands for Students Working Against Tobacco.  There are several chapters in Seminole County alone that have S.W.A.T club both in middle and high school.  I spoke to the students from my former high school, Lake Mary High School from their S.W.A.T club.

During your community show on 102 Jamz ‘Real Talk’ which airs Sunday mornings between 6am-7am, I learned what these students are doing to help the youth over power the strong message big tobacco is putting out.

Their mission isn’t against the personal smoker.  They are advocating the effects of tobacco and trying to prevent the advertisement targeted to our youth by the tobacco companies.

The students also informed us about flavored tobacco and other the glorified Hookah products and lounges which are highly popular among our college students.

They encourage anyone who finds themselves addicted to tobacco products to reach out to their local health department for help, or you can call 1-877-UCanNow.

Besitos to you,

Lizzette Perez
