October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and Harbor House of Central Florida has put together a project that is in their 4th year and it’s one that can instantly save lives and help victims who are being domestically abused!

During our community show ‘Real Talk’ which airs every Sunday morning on 102 Jamz from 6am-7am, I spoke with Carol Wick the CEO of Harbor House of Central Florida.

During the program I learned about the The It Takes Courage Door Hanging Event where volunteers go door to door to leave a door hangar filled with information to help you determine if you’re a victim of abuse and a hotline number and info to get help. The first step of course is to speak up and last year they helped so many victims because of this event! The more volunteers to go door to door the more we can help get the word out and save lives!

Can you imagine needing help and this shows up at your door at just the right time giving you just a little more courage to do something about it! It’s not too late to volunteer! Take a listen to the show to learn more about domestic violence and what to do if you believe you know someone who is being domestically abused. If you are being abused pick up the phone and tell someone!

Harbor House Hotline: 407-886-2856
Florida Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-500-1119
National Domestic Abuse Hotline: 1-800-799-7233.

There’s a new cool app for your smartphone that can also help you determine whether you or someone you know is being abused by 4 little question and it will rate the level of danger you’re in. It’s called R3 and you can CLICK HERE to get more details on the FREE app!
