Kendrick Lamar Talks Miley, His ‘Control’ Verse & Wanting To Be Michael Jordan on ‘Chelsea Lately’

Kendrick Lamar says his verse on Big Sean’s “Control” was not a diss to other rapper’s in the game, it’s just about friendly competition.

On Chelsea Lately last night (August 29), the rapper once again discussed the controversial verse, saying a lot of the young rappers he name-checks, including Drake, are friends of his. “I basically wanted to show that I’m competitive,” Lamar said. “It’s sport, you get out on the court and you’re playing…”

Before he got a chance to go into more detail, host Chelsea Handler abruptly asked the 5′ 6″ rapper, “What the f*** do you know about basketball?”

Well, Lamar explained, before music he wanted to be Michael Jordan, but being a small guy it deferred his dreams to actually writing rhymes. “I have a lot of insight on hooping, whether you know it or not,” he said. “I know looks may be deceiving.”

He went on to say that the rap game isn’t that different from basketball.
