Today is an important day in Orlando as The University of Central Florida turns 50!
UCF was established on June 10th, 1963 with an enrollment of just over 1,000 students. Today, it is the largest university in the state of Florida with roughly 60,000 students enrolled.
When the university was established, it went by Florida Technological University. A few years later, FTU changed it’s name to The University of Central Florida.
The university has been named one of the top universities in the Southeast and one of the top up-and-coming universities by U.S News World & Report.
From all of us here at 102 JAMZ, we wish a very happy birthday to UCF! Go Knights!
