While there have been rumors of it for a while now, Twitter went to Good Morning America today to officially announce the launch of Twitter Music, a stand alone site and app to connect music with your Twitter account.
Twitter Music pulls in music from Rdio, Spotify and iTunes, allowing members of subscription services Rdio and Spotify to stream full songs through the app and site. If not connected to an account, then you will have samples from iTunes.
All of the music suggestions are based on your Twitter feed, giving you feeds of new music trending on Twitter, emerging artists labeled as hidden talent found in Tweets, suggested artists that you might like, songs from #NowPlaying tags of people that you follow, and of course a full selection of available music from the artists that you follow.
In addition to the web based platform, you can click here for the iOS app. No word yet of an app for the Android operating system.
This is just the latest advancement from Twitter. Twitter earlier unveiled a video platform with the release of Vine.
