“Savior is an EXPERIENCE,” says Jonathan Cashman, writer, songwriter & composer of Savior The Musical. It’s a journey during the last week of the life of Jesus, and he says it’s an emotional rollercoaster!
During our interview on Real Talk, Jonathan did most of the talking as he described how the show came to life from the beginning when the first lyrics popped into his head and he knew it was words from Pilot, who was faced with making a major decision about the identity of Jesus. He knew a story was unfolding and he needed to write it.
The Story of Jesus has been told many ways over the years and Jonathan knew God gave him a vision that first started with the music. There’s a double CD featuring 40 songs and each one tells a story. “Everyone deserves a great explanation of the Gospel and Savior the Musical is a great explanation.”
I asked Cashman to describe the cast and the show, curious as to whether it was funny or serious. According to Jonathan, “There’s a little of everything. It’s family friendly, not gory.” Overall he’s excited to learn what everyone will take away from Savior The Musical and believes that everyone will have a different experience!
As timely as the The Bible airing on the History Channel this Easter season (with the last show of the popular series finale set to air on Easter Sunday), so is the timely return of Savior The Musical this Good Friday. “There was a great response to it last year and we had to bring it back,” he told me, adding, “It’s free to the public and we hope to get a full house.” Calvary can hold 6,000 people, so come early and expect to be blessed & amazed!
