Last year we saw it happen with Fun., Gotye and One Direction just to a name a few. Here’s a look at 5 artists you’ll want to know in the new year who just might make it big!

1. Austin Mahone

I know his fans (Mahomies) hate when I say he’s the next Justin Bieber… but seriously he is! He can dance, sing and has major swag. Austin is a 16 year-old from San Antonio, Texas but is currently in Miami finishing up his debut album. In 2012 he signed a record deal with major label Universal Republic Records (Drake, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift). He first gained popularity by posting videos on YouTube and the girls quickly fell hard for this kid. He has a single coming out in the new year called “Say You’re Just A Friend”, which features Flo-Rida. The song samples Biz Markie’s “Just A Friend” and the first time you hear it, it’s guranteed to get stuck in your head… Take a listen below.

2. Marina and the Diamonds

Marina Lambrini Diamandis aka Marina and the Diamonds is an emerging aritst from the United Kingdom who is ready to pop! She’s been selling out shows across the United States all year and in 2013 she’s going to break out! Her first single “How To Be A Heartbreaker” is on the level of Beyonce‘s “Single Ladies”. The song has that girls anthem vibe so be ready to hear it everywhere you go in the new year. Take a listen below if you want to be ahead in the music game.

3. Conor Maynard

Conor Maynard was discovered by Ne-Yo a few years back just by posting a cover of his song on his YouTube channel. He signed with Capitol Records and released his first single last year called “Vegas Girl” but wasn’t as success as he’d probably hoped it would have been. In 2013, Conor is ready to take over the pop music scene and called on his mentor Ne-Yo for a little push. Be on the look out for his new single “Turn Around” featuring Ne-Yo. The song was written by Chris Brown too so it definitely has that pop/feel good vibe.

4. A$AP Rocky

Over the summer I saw A$AP Rocky at the Bamboozle Music Festival in New Jersey. I thought it was so weird that he was playing a festival with a whole bunch of rock bands but for some reason he fit in and I kinda liked it.  A few months ago A$AP released a new single with Drake, 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar called “Problems”. This song is currently getting a lot of buzz and I have a feeling it’s going to blow up in the new year and so is he. His album ‘Long Live A$Ap’ is being released on January 15th via RCA Records and has a ton of collabs on it including his next single which features EDM mastermind, Skrillex.

5. Olly Murs

If you went to any of One Directon‘s tour dates in 2012 you probably remember seeing Olly Murs open up for the band. Like the boys in 1D, he’s also from the UK. Aside from being a sweaty mess at the show they did here in Orlando, I remember thinking he reminded me a lot of Adam Levine and Jason Mraz. You may have heard his song “Heart Skips A Beat” last year but in 2013 he’s ready to dominate. The minute I heard his new single “Troublemaker” I thought of Adam Levine and Maroon 5. The song is kind of on the level on Maroon 5‘s “Payphone”; it also features our favorite Flo-Rida! Check it out…
