John Legend Inks Deal For Sitcom Based On His Life
John Legend is taking his talents to the world of television comedy. The nine-time Grammy winning singer-songwriter has just sold an untitled sitcom based on his life.
According to Deadline, Legend’s project is backed by his production company Get Lifted, 20th Century Fox TV and Chernin Entertainment, and will be written by Sons Of Tucson’s co-creators Tommy Dewey and Greg Bratman.
The Legend sitcom will reportedly center around a young man in his early 20’s who suddenly becomes the guardian to his siblings as he navigates his rising career. Katherine Pope, Peter Chernin, Mike Jackson, Ty Stiklorious and Legend will serve as executive producers while Bratman and Dewey will co-executive produce.
Legend is not the only singer who is segueing into comedy. Fellow Grammy winner and The Voice judge CeeLo Green recently signed a deal with NBC to star in his own family sitcom. Green’s show The show will be loosely based on the real life of the former Goodie Mob member. –Keith Murphy, CBS Local
