Lake Mary Students To Put On Central Florida’s Very First 5k To Benefit Cerebal Palsy
I know their parents must be extremely proud! David Gulianno gave me a call a few weeks ago, extremely excited about the event he’s been working on with his 13-year-old twin boys, Theo and Ben Gulianno. Along with the boys’ best friends Adrian and Martin, who are also twins, together they came up with the idea for the Lake Scary 5K Run/Walk to be held at the boys’ school, Lake Mary Prepratory School, on Saturday, October 27, 2012.
When David and I spoke about the event plans, I learned that David’s story with his twins boys was very similar to my story with my twin girls, Mia and Maya, whom you may have heard me talk about on the radio once or twice in the past. My girls were born premature and spent almost 4 months in the N.I.C.U at Winnie Palmer Hospital back in 2009. They both have Cerebral Palsy. Since they are only 3, I still have a lot to learn about Cerebral Palsy. David and I were very excited about bringing the boys for a visit to the 102 JAMZ studios to have them on the radio telling their story and talk about the event.
During our community show, 102 JAMZ “Real Talk”, the two sets of twins told us how they came up with the idea in the first place. David’s son, Ben, spoke about his challenges with Cerebral Palsy and shared the amazing story of how they asked their parents to help them put the event together. How could they say no? The school was also gracious to help them with their mission and hope to make this an annual event!
The very 1st annual Lake Scary 5K Run/Walk will benefit UCP of Central Florida and the Cerebal Palsy International Research Foundation. Registration begins promptly at 6:30am. Run begins at 7:30 a.m. and walk begins at 8 a.m. For all the event details, click HERE. Hope to see you all there! I will be! Besitos to you!
