Raekwon Calls Out Kanye West For Next “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx”
If Raekwon has his way, the respected MC’s third installment of his acclaimed Only Built 4 Cuban Linx series will feature one of hip-hop’s biggest visionaries–Kaye West.
“It’ll only be right,” Raekwon told MTV when asked if Yeezy would be adding his distinct talents to Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… Pt. III. “One thing about me with that III, if I do that III the way I want to do it, I wanna break bread with everybody. There might be a young n—a out there that I feel got it.”
Rae and ‘Ye have recording history. The pair collaborated on West’s “Gorgeous,” which was featured on his platinum 2010 release My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. And Raekwon also showed up on G.O.O.D. Music’s Cruel Summer album cut “The Morning.”
While there’s no release date for the follow-up to 2009’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… Pt. II—a work that featured longtime Wu rhyme partner Ghostface and such Wu members as Inspectah Deck, Method Man, and GZA as well as star-studded production from the RZA, Dr. Dre, Eric Sermon, Pete Rock, Marley Marl and J. Dilla—Rae is approaching the project cautiously.
“The main thing is just the vibe, when we come together if we don’t got a vibe, we don’t got nothin’,” Raekwon said. “So we’re really just taking our time, but we know we gonna do something.”—Keith Murphy, CBS Local
