Stevie Nicks: “I Would Have Killed Nicki Minaj”
In a recent interview with The Daily, Nicks was discussing Minaj’s recent well-documented clash with fellow Idol judge Mariah Carey, and said, “How dare this little girl! … If I had been Mariah I would have walked over to Nicki and strangled her to death right there.”
She continued, “I would have killed her in front of all those people and had to go to jail for it.”
Nicks may learn, the hard way, that Minaj’s fan base is rather… enthusiastic and aggressive. Recently, when Minaj and her fans thought that a rapper named Da Brat had been publicly disrespectful of her, they launched a barrage of insults toward Brat on Twitter.
On the other hand, sticks and stones… Plus, Nicks doesn’t really dabble in social media, so she may not even notice. However, her fans are on Twitter in force, and of course, they are a loyal bunch. A number of Nicks fans represent for the “Gold Dust Woman,” 140 characters at a time, including @StevieNicks (not an authorized account), @stevienicksnews, @stevienixchain and @Stevie-NicksNet, among others (@realStevieNicks is, apparently, run by Stevie’s assistant). And Nicks’ fans prove their mettle, in many ways… not the least of which is the Night Of 1000 Stevies, an annual event in New York City that is (per its own description)
“The Stevie celebration ne plus ultra – a riot of shawls, lace, baby’s breath, twirling, tambourines and great performance.” 2012 was the Night’s 22nd year, meaning that it’s been in effect since Minaj was in kindergarden.
Hopefully this “beef,” to use the parlance of hip-hop, will be squashed before it starts, and perhaps Minaj will show up at the 2013 edition of “Night Of 1000 Stevies,” bringing together two generations obsessive fans.
