50 Cent finds himself on the wrong side of the law in his new movie Freelancers. The rapper recently explained how playing the role of cop, alongside Academy Award-winning veterans Forest Whitaker and Robert De Niro, comes with a steep learning curve.
“It was a learning experience,” 50 Cent told V-103‘s Ryan Cameron. “Every time I get a chance to work with De Niro it’s exciting to me. And Forest is an amazing actor. There were points when I didn’t know if he was acting or if he was drunk.”
Whitaker plays the role of an aggressive cop in the NYPD, who has gone rouge. According to 50, he was too convincing.
“[I didn’t know] if he went and had a couple of drinks. We had scenes when he was suposed to be drunk,” 50 Cent explained, with a laugh. “I swear to God he was drunk in there. It felt like he was drunk, man. To this day, I can’t tell you if he was drunk or not. But he killed it.”

50 Cent stars as Malo, a New York City kid who follows in the footsteps of his NYPD father who was murdered. Like his dad, 50 finds himself in with a crew of corrupt officers led by Joe Sarcone (Robert Dinero). All the while, he seeks to avenge his father’s murder.
Aside from his film endeavors, 50 Cent has a new album on deck, Street King Immortal, which he says is set for a November 13 release. In july, he released a new mixtape to hold his place until his official return. The first single from the new album is “New Day,” which features Alicia Keys and Dr. Dre.
