Last week Nicki Minaj created a stir with her verse on Lil Wayne’s Dedication 4 mixtape. On “Mercy” she raps, “I’m a Republican, voting for Mitt Romney/You lazy b****es is f***in’ up the economy.”

In a radio interview President Barack Obama addressed the lyrics and Minaj’s alleged Mitt Romney endorsement.

“Yeah, I’m not sure that’s actually what happened. I think she had a song on there, a little rap that said that. But she likes to play different characters. So I don’t know what’s going on there,” Obama said.

Whether or not Nicki really is endorsing Romney is up in the air as she showed her excitement that the President addressed her in an interview.

As far as whether his daughters listen to Nicki Minaj, Obama expressed his uncertainty.

“I don’t think they really listen to Nicki Minaj that much,” he said. “But let’s face it, they are now hipper than me. There’s a certain point where your kids get old enough where they’re hipper than you are.”

Regardless, Obama likes to explore music trends.

“Michelle and I . . . we try to keep up so we’ve got a nice hip-hop collection on our iPods,” Obama said.

On the heels of winning Best Female Video for “Starships” at the VMA’s last Thursday, Nicki revealed more exciting news for fans.

“I’m releasing my album in November. It’s called Pink Friday Roman Reloaded: The Re-Up and I’m putting lots of new songs on there,” she told E News! “I’m actually going to drop my new single next week. So Barbz, you are going to spaz, you are going to love it, you are going to go crazy.”

While she hasn’t revealed just what the new single will be, she said the re-release will involve new material likely unheard before. Perhaps Nicki will endorse President Obama this time around.
