Part one of VH1’s Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta Reunion allowed plenty of time for Stevie J and Joseline Hernandez to dissected their relationship. But everyone didn’t have an opportunity to air their dirty laundry. While the almost-engagement between Benzino and Karlie Redd was not a part of the show, the rapper recently explained what happened to the ring.
Co-stars Stevie J, Joseline Hernandez, K. Michelle, Mimi, Rasheeda, and Karlie Redd as well as Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta producer Mona Scott-Young sat down to set the record straight on many of the season’s explosive issues. They had heated discussions about the volatile love triangle between Mimi, Stevie and Joseline as well as a confrontation between Rasheeda and K. Michelle that almost turned physical.
But one storyline was conspicuously absent from the Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta recap and it involved former Source magazine co-owner Ray “Benzino” Scott. Benzino provided one of the show’s most memorable moments when he took back his wedding ring proposal from girlfriend Karlie Redd.
But according to an interview with V-103’s The Ryan Cameron Show, Benzino said the bold act was not done out of malicious intent. He points to Redd’s dishonesty and her sketchy relationship with soca music star Machel Montana.
“It was a few things going on that were a little shaky and a little questionable,” Benzino explained to Cameron of the rocky relationship. “Even the part where we had our little spat inside the kitchen, she basically admitted it. I said, ‘Look, you went to the studio, you lied about who you were working with.’”
But the question that was on everyone’s mind is where is the engagement ring?
“I bought the ring back,” Benzino said. “I bought it back to the jewelry store. I had the ring for a long time. But ultimately it’s like what am I going to have the ring just sitting on my dresser?”
