Beanie Sigel, born Dwight E. Grant, was pulled over this morning during a traffic stop in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. After police searched Sigel’s Ford Fusion vehicle they discovered marijuana, $4,650 in cash, prescription pills, codeine syrup and a .38 caliber handgun in the center of the console. Sigel and a passenger, both convicted felons, were taken into custody.
Ruffhouse Records, Sigel’s new record label, is standing by its troubled rapper.
“Obviously, we’re very disappointed,” Ruffhouse CEO Chris Schwartz said in a statement. “However, Beanie has done nothing but display the utmost professionalism in all the initiatives related to the promotion of his new release,” Schwatz continued. “Beanie obviously has been struggling with some personal issues, and we continue to support him now and throughout his impending incarceration.”
Sigel, who is already facing a two-year prison sentence, was on a publicity run for his latest project. On Tuesday August 28, Beanie dropped his new album, This Time.
Bail was set for the former Roc-A-Fella lyricist at $300,000.
