Kanye West is appearing in an erotic video to help promote model Anja Rubik’s new fashion magazine 25. In true West fashion, the clip toys with visual images and finds Kanye at the center of the action.
The video, directed by Barnaby Roper, features kaleidoscopic imagery, nudity and the “Mercy” visionary delivering a line from Dante’s Divine Comedy: “Through me, the everlasting pain/ Abandon all hope.”
The magazine “focuses on erotica from a woman’s point of view” and was shot entirely by high profile female photographers such as Emma Summerton, Annie Leibovitz and Corinne Day.
West and Rubik have been friends for some time. The G.O.O.D. Music label head shouted out the fashion beauty on his “Way Too Cold” track: “Dinner with Anna Wintour/ Racin’ with Anja Rubik/ I told you mother******s it was more than the music.”
“We talked about porn looks these days, and he agreed with me that there’s no porn out there that is beautiful aesthetically and integrates fashion to make a beautiful image,” Rubik told New York magazine about how West became involved. “I thought it would be really interesting to make it seem like we were entering Kanye’s head. It’s not pornographic, but it’s very sensual.”
Kanye continues to push the envelope with music as well as visuals. He recently revealed a verse from his “New God Flow” at the BET Awards on Sunday, where he and the Throne partner Jay-Z won big, taking home trophies for Best Group and Video of the Year for “N****s In Paris.”
