Maybe [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]MC Hammer[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ja Rule[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Nas[/lastfm], and a sea of other rappers can learn from [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jermaine Dupri[/lastfm]. The rapper who previouly owed the IRS $493,818.75 in back taxes has wiped his slate clean by paying off this debt to the government.

Apparently JD paid off a huge debt he owed to the IRS and it’s been reported that he paid twice as much. The original tax lien was for $254,782.64, but the IRS tacked on $91,721.75 in interest and $82,294.79 in penalty charges. That’s $174,026.54 in additional charges! This is not the first time JD has been in trouble with the IRS. In 2009, Jermaine Dupri allegedly owed $3.2 million dollars in back taxes to the government.

According to

The state of Georgia filed a $135,749 lien against him Nov. 17, 2008, in Fulton County Superior Court. The IRS filed a $3,095,004 lien against him Sept. 4, 2008, in the Westchester County (N.Y.) Clerk’s office.

When will rappers learn? Pay your taxes ON TIME!
