If you’re a Basketball Wives fan, then you knew this was coming. Yes it’s official, Gloria Govan and former Orlando Magic player Matt Barnes have officially called it quits! After a public wedding cancellation last year, Matt Barnes has officially released a statement that him and his former fiance are parting ways for good.
Some people say that VH1 should change the name of it’s hit show ‘Basketball Wives’ to Basketball girlfriends, jump-offs, or baby mommas. It seems that less and less women on the show are becoming everything far from an actual ‘wife’. Last season on VH1’s Basketball Wives, Matt Barnes and former fiance Gloria Govan were the center of attention when they apparently called off their wedding that was supposed to go down in Orlando. The couple released a statement to the press that their relationship was very much still in tact, and they were just deciding not to get married at that time due to the trade from the Orlando Magic to the Los Angeles Lakers.

This season, it seems to be a completely different ball game as NBA player Barnes has released a statement saying it’s over!
Here’s what Matt Barnes had to say:
“I’d like to address the rumors surrounding mine and Gloria’s relationship. We have reached the difficult decision of ending our relationship and will be going our separate ways at this time. We will work together to raise our sons and wish each other only the best.”
Gloria seemed to be the Royce Reed of Basketball Wives first season as she was disliked by most of her cast mates. Govan claimed that the other women (including Shaunie O’Neal) were jealous and bitter of her relationship with Matt Barnes. Gloria spoke out to VH1 during the taping of the Basketball Wives LA reunion saying, It hasn’t been an easy ride moving across the country twice, having kids at 21 when I just graduated college; it hasn’t been easy,“Gloria said, adding that the pressure of the NBA lockout has also been a huge stress on her former fiancé. “But we’re still friends and we’re still working things out and I wish him nothing but the best.”
Either way, we wish these two the best!
