For some, it may be cutting it close to getting all of the school supplies and school clothes in time for the first day of school, but there are definitely savings to be had if you take advantage of the Florida Sales Tax Holiday for all of those back-to-school items.

The Sales Tax Holiday, which will run from August 12th-August 14th, includes clothing with a value of $75 or less and school supplies with a value of $15 or less. Here is the definition of eligible “clothing” and “school supplies” from the Florida Department of Revenue:

  • “Clothing” means any article of wearing apparel, including all footwear (except skis, swim fins, roller blades, and skates), intended to be worn on or about the human body. However, “clothing” does not include watches, watchbands, jewelry, umbrellas, handkerchiefs, or sporting equipment.
  • “School supplies” means pens, pencils, erasers, crayons, notebooks, notebook filler paper, legal pads, binders, lunch boxes, construction paper, markers, folders, poster board, composition books, poster paper, scissors, cellophane tape, glue, paste, rulers, computer disks, protractors, compasses, and calculators.

And don’t forget to attend the Back 2 School Expo on Saturday, August 13th from 10AM-3PM at the Seminole Towne Center Mall.
