Videos: Happy 40th Birthday Tupac Shakur!

Had he survived the Sept. 7, 1996 drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, renowned rapper/actor[lastfm link_type=””] Tupac Shakur [/lastfm]would have been 40 today. His mother Afeni (featured in the video for his hit single “Dear Mama”) will be joined by co-host Mike Epps at a 40th Birthday Concert Celebration, headlined by [lastfm link_type=””]Erykah Badu[/lastfm]. And we are remembering him and his music right now, in videos…

Alright early fans, did you spot him as a back-up dancer and second string rapper in Digital Underground?

Or remember this song with the late MC Breed (1971-2008), the video for which was shot in Atlanta?

This was considered the first solo release from 2Pac. But were you paying attention then?

How about after this follow-up release from his solo debut CD, “2Pacalypse Now”?

Since this was his first post-“Juice” single, many consider this his first HIT. Agree?

Look closely for the Jada Pinkett Smith cameo (back when she was just Jada Pinkett, and friends with Shakur in Baltimore).

This single from the album “Me Against The World” made 2Pac the first artist to have a No. 1 CD while in prison. Think this is some of 2Pac’s best storytelling?

Suge Knight springs 2Pac from jail and they make this big budget video with Hype Williams. Which single pays tribute to the west coast best – this one, Katy Perry’s or the Beach Boys’ ?

Compared to the actor who portrayed 2Pac in “Notorious,” doesn’t whomever’s in this video look more like him?

And what did you think of this pairing? Want more posthumous recordings? (There have actually been more of those than the albums he put out when he was alive…)

Give us a shout and let us know your favorite Tupac video in the comments below.
