This past Memorial Day weekend tragedy struck Miami Beach, Florida when two Miami Beach shootings left 1 person dead and 7 people injured in two different incidents.

The first shooting incident occurred around 4am on Collins Avenue when police opened fire on a vehicle that hit several cars including a patrol car. Shots rang out from a black Mercedes Benz onto the busy streets of Collins Ave causing party-goers to run for their lives. Police surrounded the vehicle and later began to exchange fire with men inside. During the exchange of gun fire one man who is said to be the driver was killed and another injured. Two police officers were also injured during the gun battle.

Another gun battle occurred just a few blocks away on Washington Avenue when shots rang out at around 5:15am. Police officers were seen running towards suspects with machine guns as more party-goers began to run and scream. Apparently another police officer was injured in this shooting. While there are not many details at this point, witnesses are saying that it was a very scary situation.

One woman said that her friend was accidentally shot by police in the first shooting when gun fire was exchanged. Another witness caught parts of the first shooting on camera and the video has been circulating on YouTube.

All of the injured police officers were taken to the hospital and Miami Beach Police Sergeant Alejandro Bello said their injuries were not life-threatening.

We have enclosed the video from the first shooting.
