Did you know that the song “Umbrella” was originally written by Tricky Stewart and The-Dream with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Britney Spears[/lastfm] in mind?

L.A. Reid at Island Def Jam saw the song and sent it to [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rihanna[/lastfm]. It’s a good thing she really wanted to record it because it put her on the map! Plus it didn’t hurt to have hip-hop icon [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jay-Z[/lastfm] featured. It’s still the biggest hit of Rihanna’s career.
