The latest news is that they are cutting staff and staff salaries. But does that cut include the Bishop’s salary too?
According to HipHopWired.com:
The drama continues for Biship Eddie Long as its been reported that his New Birth Missionary Baptist Church has laid off two-full time ployees and will be reducing salaries by 10%.
The church also initiated a “pilot program” trimming the work week down from 5 to 4 days.
New Birth released a statement saying,
“Like numerous other churches and charitable organizations across Georgia and the rest of the country, New Birth and its faith community have been impacted by the nationwide downturn in the economy.”
However it remains unclear whether Long’s salary will be affected.
The statement read that Long’s compensation is determined by an independent board, “in conjunction with advice and counsel of New Birth’s CPAs and tax advisers, all in accordance with IRS regulations.”
