© Darenote’s Best of 2010 proved to be one of the most diverse end-of-year charts going, with a blend of indie-cred and pop gloss mashing together, reflecting the music you’ve really been playing in 2010.

Today Trends pick out some of the power-pop divas that filled out the top forty.

2010 was a mixed bag for pop records. For the last twelve months lots of artists have been moving in the shadow of Lady Gaga‘s monstrous chart dominance, scrabbling for position among themselves just to keep from being trampled.

For some that job proved easier than others. Our Top Ten Pop Divas still raked in millions of scrobbles in 2010, fending off challenges indie bands and hip-hop acts eager to make a splash.

As the overall chart topper Ke$ha‘s had the biggest impact, by quite a way too. With 15,915,151 scrobbles she managed to pull almost four and a half times as many scrobbles as Kylie Minogue, who crept into the chart at forty.

Meanwhile Katy Perry made a huge dent in a relatively short amount of time. Released only in August, Teenage Dream enabled Perry to swing into ninth place, right behind Rihanna, who benefitted from scrobbles across a full year.

Welsh-Greek singer Marina Diamandis, a.k.a. Marina & the Diamonds, came surprisingly high in the top forty, taking fifteenth place. That she beat Shakira and Alicia Keys is no mean feat; it’s no wonder Katy Perry snapped her up for her 2011 arena tour.

Of course, whether any of them can withstand Lady Gaga’s triumphant return in 2011 remains to be seen.
