Bishop Eddie Long Scandal Continues

He may be in mediation with his 4 accusers of sexual coertion, but there is another case involving 2 of them that he may have to go to court for. And maybe then he can throw 1 of his 5 rocks as david vs goliath in the biblical story did?

He without sin, cast the first stone!!!!!!!! I think people look at christians as supper hero’s, But Jesus became sin for us so that we will be sinless and can go to his thrown of grace for repentence

    • Shania

Romon, you contidict yourself saying that Jesus became sin for us so that we will be sinless. That is not the word my child, the word says that For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Not that we can live a SINLESS life. We sin every single day! Jesus died so we can REPENT those sins and not perish. Nevertheless, a pastor/leader is suppose to resist temptation (Resist the Devil & he will flee from you) and instruct their sheep how to do the same. Eddie simply could not resist temptation and what Eddie did was wrong and he should step down as pastor, repent and move on.

I believe that people look at other people as heroes period, not just Christians. We need to all remember that at the end of the day celebrities and Christians are still just people, not perfect, but people!

It saddens me to see such spiritual leadership failing in this way. Bishop Eddie Long has a great ministry that clearly has affected many many peoples lives across this country. But God clearly isn’t no respecter of person! For God rains on the Just as well as the Unjust. (Matt 5:45) God is exposing the sins of this man, because they needed to be brought to Light. Just like He did King David when what he did in the dark wasnt going to be Hidden with God. (2 Samuel 12:11,12) God will expose our sins especially if your working under His plans for the Kingdom. As bad as this is, its about setting the captives free. It’s hard to teach others how to be free if your not free from bondages of a lifestyle of sin yourself. May he repent so that the Bishop can get back to Kingdom Business. Let us remember that God never took David’s Kingship from him, because of his sin. But we must deal with the penalty of our actions when we choose to do them. I pray that Bishop will change from his ways, and get back to Business…..

  • Evangelist Lewis

Shania, I have to agree that Jesus did come that we may have life and have it more abundantly. 1John 1:9, declares “if we confess our sins, He(Jesus) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness.” Romans 11:29 also states, “The gifts and calling of God are without repentance.” So who are we to say that a man should repent and step down. We as people falter by trying to cast judgement on the men and women of God. Those things that they do in error, are accountable to God not Man. Working ministry is a TASK, it is not always easy. We are human just like the rest of the world; however, held to a higher standard, and that STANDARD being set by God, not the people we lead. I am in no ways saying that what Bishop did was ok, he fell short of the Glory of God, as the word says…and as we all have! People we have to be careful of outwardly speaking against the people of God, because as I said earlier, The gifts and callings of the Father are WITHOUT repentence, and the word does tell us to “touch not my annointed and do my prophets no harm.”
1 Chronicles 16:22 and Psalm 105:15 Go in peace and have a wonderful day!

Evangelist Lewis, I do agree with you and yes ultimately God is the only one to judge. However like you said, as a Bishop, Eddie is held to a higher standard. The word says a man should not lay with another man as he would his wife. How can one preach the word when one is not practicing that which he preach? We may never know what really happen, we can only assume guilt because he settled out of court. Therefore the morally right thing to do is to step down & repent (being that he admitted guilt by settling). Hopefully he gets his self together & go back to being the leader God ordained him to be.

Evangelist Lewis thanks to your response to Shania, it caused me to go back and search the scripture you referenced for more clarity. I believe that Romans 11:29 when refering to Without Repentance has been taken out of the actual context in which it was written. God is not talking about Without Repentance when it comes to man, He is talking about Himself WITHOUT REPENTANCE, meaning that God won’t change His mind from who He gives His Gifts or Callings to. When you read the whole chapter of Romans 11 the conversation is referencing the status of the children of Israel not being totally rejected as the chosen sons even though salvation was also now available to the Gentiles. Through deeper study I discovered that other meanings to the word without repentence are defined as “for the gifts and calling of God are irrevocable”. We also need to keep in mind that confession is truly important to God as well as repenting from our sinful ways. Jesus clearly told us to Repent for the Kingdom of God is at Hand. (Matt. 4:17) Also, for the goodness of God leadth us to Repentance. (Romans 2:4) We must Repent and sometimes step down for a season after we confess to God our sins we have committed. It would be a wise thing to do when one has killed their witness with the people of God.
