Eminem "Recovery"

CD Now : : [lastfm]Eminem[/lastfm] : Recovery

I was recently blessed with an early copy of Eminem’s latest but I held out on my review because I wanted the music to seat with me.

Also, I am not a Slim Shady fan at all, but I’m always open to a change of heart.

The first thought that came to me upon listening to Eminem’s 7th studio album “Recovery” is “Apologetic”.

Eminem "Other" album cover for "Recovery"

His delivery is direct, vulnerable & graphic with no chaser as we’ve grown to expect from Eminem.  Opening with “Cold Wind Blows”, he lets the world know this is who I am – take it or leave it.

With slight personal acceptance for himself, he thanks his fans for sticking with him through his absence & dark moments (drug addiction). No one or thing was off limits from being mentioned… Kanye, Lil Wayne, Mariah Carey, the critics, and his sobriety.

He teams up with some power house talents on this album – Pink on “Won’t Back Down” , Rhianna on the radio hit “Love the Way you Lie” and Lil’ Wayne on “No Love” produced by Just Blaze with an amazing Haddaway “What is Love” sample. ßAll my personal favs!

Various tracks have the melodic & somewhat captivating production of DJ Khalil, who describes the project as a “transformation” for Eminen (via an MTV interview).
On the lead track, “I’m not afraid” he apologizes to the fans for letting them down and upon hitting 1 year since his album “Relapse and 1 year of being sober  – “Recovery” is a more than appropriate title for this album.

I have found a new appreciation for Marshall Mathers and stamp this a straight listen and certified what’s goodie!
