New York, NY (April 16, 2010) – Grammy nominated, multi-platinum selling recording artist and actor Chris Brown will headline and host the benefit concert Virginia Stand Up! A Call to Action, in Richmond, Virginia on May 15, 2010. Proceeds from Virginia Stand Up! A Call to Action will benefit The American Red Cross, Greater Richmond Chapter to support their continued relief efforts in Haiti and their local outreach in the Richmond community, as well as The Central Virginia Food Bank, a FeedMore organization, which fights hunger in the region by providing food and grocery products to an extensive network of partner agencies.
Confirmed performers include Keri Hilson, Trey Songz, T-Pain, Ryan Leslie, Mario and Juelz Santana with additional artists to be announced. Brown will close the show, performing tracks from Graffiti, his third album on Jive Records and latest effort, as well as his original hits such as “Run It”, “Gimme That”, “With You”, “Forever” and “Kiss Kiss”.
Virginia Stand Up! A Call to Action will be held at the Siegel Center, located at the Virginia Commonwealth University. Brown chose the Siegel Center due to its location in Virginia, his home state and where he first began his career as an R&B teen sensation. Fans will have the chance to participate personally in the fundraising efforts by bringing non-perishable food items, which can be dropped off in specially marked receptacles on site. The Central Virginia Food Bank is in specific need of peanut butter, rice and pasta, hot and cold cereals, tuna, canned fruits and canned vegetables.
“I wanted to find a way to contribute personally to the ongoing Haitian relief effort and also support an organization that helps people in need in my home state,” says Brown. “The images I see on television, both in my community and in Haiti, remind me that everyone has to do their part.”
Virginia Stand Up! A Call to Action is produced by LiveNation and Haymon Events.
